- The Orthodox Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Bokhtar (formerly Kurgan‑Tyube), Khatlon Region, Tajikistan, traces its modern construction back to 2008, when funding came from Russia’s Rosselkhozbank and support was provided by the nearby 201st Russian military base. The current church building was constructed between 2009 and 2011, designed by architect Viktor Kanaev, featuring a distinctive tented‑roof style. The local Orthodox community there consists mainly of ethnic Russians and Slavs and maintains a regular parish life, including a Sunday school.
